Up until fairly recently, most people believed that paying attention to cholesterol levels was something that only those over a certain age or weight needed to be concerned about. However, as we’re learning more and more about how the human body works, we’re learning that health stats need to be monitored at all ages. Specifically, the American Heart Association has found that there is strong scientific evidence supporting the monitoring of cholesterol even in some children. In families where there is a prevalent history of high cholesterol and heart disease, it’s now recommended that cholesterol screening begin early in order to prevent future heart disease.
